The Nursing Game

When we found out about our new little addition to our family it was exciting. It had reminded me of the fun that we had with our first little girl. It then hit me really hard. The nursing game. Now ladies I know that you guys know what I am talking about and Guys I know you do to.

I had always thought that once a baby was born that it would just naturally latch onto the mom's boob and say bon appetite! I was so wrong. It has been a struggle trying to get our new little Chloe to eat from the boob, but she does really good from the bottle.

Don't worry we haven't resorted to the (f-word) Janae has been able to pump and we (yes, me included) have been able to be apart of the feeding experience.

What do you think you guys how had your experiences been with the nursing game?

Nurses with the bad bedside manners

Janae and I were getting very upset at a few of the nurses that we had in the hospital. Janae was having a difficult nursing Chloe and was feeling down and frustrated. Have you ladies have had a hard time nursing your kids at the beginning? How did you guys get through it? Back to the bad beside manner some of the nurses wouldn't give us any good explanations for anything such as why couldn't Janae get a nipple shield to help her nurse. It seemed like a good idea to us but it when we asked the nurses to help us they said "no" and didn't give any reason why not. We like answers.

The beginning of the second child

Last night around 6:30 pm I get a call from my hysterical wife crying profusly. "Todd my water just broke. I need you to get home fast." she said. " I'm on it." I said with confidence in my voice. As I stood up from the table at a Convention that I was attending I had a lot of people stare with concerned look on their faces as I walk out toward the parking lot to get into the car. As I was getting ready to start the car and begin to drive I thought to myself. "I hope that I make it."

You see, I was approx 2 hours away at a Family Support Adoption convention in Layton, Utah which is about 2 to 3 hours give or take to destination Pocatello, ID as I began my journey my heart was beating really fast and the only thing that I could possibly think about would be the disappointment on my wife's eyes when I show up and I miss out on one of the most important moments of our lives.

So with that in mind, I began pressing on the accelerator and travel faster and faster toward my destination. I called to check on the status of Janae and she said that she was doing okay and to be careful on my way home. I heard those words but was afraid that she would be thinking about how mad she was at me for leaving her 5 days before her due date to go to a convention for work. When I reach Malad which was about 1 hour away I called and spoke with my mom on the status of Janae and Chloe (the baby). She told me that Janae was almost ready to go into the operating room for the Cessarian and the baby would be born soon.

I called the police dispatch to tell them that I was in transit to Pocatello to be there for the new little addition to my family. They didn't give me permission to speed but they were able to congratulate me and relay the message that my car was in transit to Pocatello. I didn't get pulled over by a cop thankfully and I was able to make it to the tail end of the birth.

The coolest part from a dad's perpective of the cessarian birth would have to be spending one on one time with the infant while mom is getting put back together in the operating room. I was able to spend some good quality time with her.

Hello world, here comes Chloe.
